The Secret of Donotalado
ACT VIII
Having braved one of the fiercest storms ever experienced on the Inflorescence plain, our knights struggled through to find themselves cold, wet and once again without their horses. Fortunately, at almost the exact center point of the plain is an ancient, remote guard station, abandoned centuries ago.
Hundreds of years ago the Inflorescence plain represented the outermost boundary of the Kingdom of Udenland. King Theodor's great-great-great-great-great-great grandmother Queen Wilma the Demented had many of these structures built to stop the hoards of invading gerbils. See, she, like many royals, was completely insane and used her time as queen to make her kingdom safe from many delusional enemies. In addition to gerbils, she was determined to halt the advancing legions of gophers, jumbo shrimp, men named Dan and walnuts. And, if one was to be honest, the kingdom never did suffer through an attack from any of these threats, so her efforts were, technically, a success.
Now, speaking of insane, of course it is no surprise to find comfortably holed up in this remote, crumbling abode, Sir Rodney. Good Sir Rodney, Sir Cottington’s oldest brother, a Knight who shares Queen Wilma’s peculiar fear of the dangers presented by the meek and inanimate. Rodney also remains in a constant state of discombobulation, which he finds quite agreeable.
So when Sir Cottington and Sir Bratwurst struggle through the door of the guard post and find Rodney greeting them with his usual fervor, they are only mildly surprised, they are, in fact, more concerned about Nigel and what he will do when he discovers they have lost the horses again.
